Description
The Zx5-90PI is a 15 inch passive loudspeaker designed for speech reinforcement and music playback in indoor and protected outdoor environments. It delivers controlled 90 x 50 coverage and high output in a compact, weather-resistant enclosure. This model combines a 15 in low-frequency transducer and a 1 in exit compression driver to provide reliable full-range performance.
Key features include a DVX3150 15 in LF transducer with forced air directional voice coil cooling and an ND2 neodymium compression driver with a 2 in voice coil. The enclosure is molded polypropylene structural foam that resists moisture and impact and a multilayer grille with hydrophobic cloth provides additional protection. The PI-Weatherized version meets IEC IP44 environmental specs for protected outdoor use.
Performance highlights include a frequency response of 58 Hz to 18 kHz (-3 dB), a wider frequency range to 39 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB), and a maximum calculated SPL of 132 dB. The passive design is rated at 600 W continuous and 2400 W peak power handling, with biamp LF/HF allocations of 500 W/40 W continuous. The crossover is set at 1.5 kHz and nominal impedance is 8 Ohms, with a minimum impedance of 6.5 Ohms.
Connectivity is provided via a 2-conductor SJO cable and a gland nut input connection for sealed installations. The speaker supports passive operation or biamping when used with appropriate amplifiers and crossovers. Multiple suspension and rigging points plus M8 inserts allow integration with standard mounting hardware and speaker brackets.
The Zx5-90PI is suited to fixed installs, portable PA systems, houses of worship, education facilities, and outdoor covered venues where weather resistance and controlled coverage are required. Its 90 x 50 coverage pattern is effective for short to medium throw applications and clusters. High sensitivity and controlled dispersion help maintain speech clarity and musical detail in challenging acoustic environments.
Installation is simplified by three anchor plates for single-stud fittings, ten forged steel eyebolts and multiple M8 inserts for brackets and suspension. The lightweight transducer design and molded enclosure reduce rigging load while retaining structural rigidity. Overall build quality, cooling features, and forged magnet components provide long-term reliability in professional installations.
